About
My online name is FekketCantenel; my penname is Fiona Canteberry. I hope to centralize my online activities on this site.
The Name
Call me Fekket, Fek if you know me. I don't answer to FC, FekCan, Feck It, F*** It Can't Anal, or F***ingACantelope (yes, I have been called all of these at least once). If you'd still like to prove yourself unimaginative and a waste of my time, though, feel free to give it a shot. However, I'd like to note that I found it hilarious when Line the German once stopped in the middle of a conversation and asked, "Wait. What can't Fekket enel?"
I've gotten a few comments asking if I'm from a weird African nation or cruel parents. No, my name's origins are nothing as forgiveable as that. I came up with the name 'Fekket Cantenel' for an elf character in a bit of amateurish fantasy fiction when I was eleven or so. The first name was a random, wild-sounding name, while the surname was supposedly a god of lightning and the patron saint of the character's family. I've long since discarded the story but I liked the name enough to keep it.
I always liked the name 'Fiona' (especially after seeing the sweet character in one of the Zoids series). When I decided to make up a penname for my writing, I looked in the phonebook for 'Cantenel' and found 'Canteberry' instead. You wouldn't believe the number of people who've pointed out my 'misspelling' of 'Canterbury'.
So FekketCantenel and Fiona Canteberry are the only two names you're ever going to see me go by online. I spout way too much stupid garbage to have people knowing my real name and being able to Mapquest it.
A long, long time ago, I occasionally signed off on translations as Kumo Inazuma (which I, at the time, amateurishly translated from 'thundercloud', tying it to the Cantenel name). This was the name of a character in a Cowboy Bebop fanfiction that I never actually wrote down.
I have also been known as the Secret Fish Princess.
My CB handle is Sand Fairy. I believe this originated in the same story in which Kumo Inazuma was invented.
The Site
This site has existed in several incarnations. On a previous host, it was home of the TGSBB, on which the 'beta' and 'gamma' readers of The Golden Sands helped me polish it into the 'work of art' it is today.
The name 'The Homework Never Ends' comes from a song from Yu Yu Hakusho, one of my favorite anime of all time. For me, the phrase holds a lot of meaning (I build my life around to-do lists and goals) and irony (I was homeschooled and therefore was never assigned homework).
Fiction
I've been writing fiction since I was small, but didn't complete my first novel until I was eighteen or so. For more information about my fiction projects, see the 'Fiction' button above.
